Board of Directors are responsible for the overall governance, direction, and long-term success of the club. The Board ensures the club operates responsibly, remains financially sustainable, and provides a positive experience for members and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction.
- Develop and monitor strategic or multi-year plans.
- Ensure financial health and accountability.
- Identify opportunities for growth (membership, programming, facility improvements).
- Approve and monitor the annual budget.
- Ensure strong financial controls and transparency.
- Oversee revenue streams (memberships, bonspiels, events, rental, fundraising)
- Approve major expenditures and capital projects.
- Establish and maintain bylaws, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Recruit and support volunteers for Board and committee roles.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive volunteer culture.
- Identify and manage risks (financial, operational, safety)
- Promote a safe and respectful environment for all members.
- Encourage a welcoming and inclusive club atmosphere.
- Build relationships with local businesses, sponsors, and the community.
